So up and to my office (being come to some angry words with my wife about neglecting the keeping of the house clean, I calling her beggar, and she me pricklouse, which vexed me) and there all the morning.
If this is your introduction to Samuel Pepys, the lore is that he kept an unusually honest and thorough diary, recording his many many sex pest crimes, but also he happened to be witness to some important historical events and so everyone who studies England in the mid-1600s has to read his sex pest diary
Do historians nowadays just pretend that anything listed only on Pepys' diary did never happen?
