Your *first* name is too unique to use on social media. I have literally never heard of anyone by that name before, and I've been chatting online for 30 years.
Some random person could tell me “you heard about that [your first name] lady?” and I would know exactly who they're talking about, no context required.
@farah Meanwhile I'm wishing desperately that I had changed my last name from Johnson to Peace (my part-Native-American stepdad's last name) back when I turned 18.
