the way i see it, maybe one of these seven is a valid criticism (and it's fixed now). another couple get a kind of half-valid from me. always nice for your work to be mentioned, sure, but in an article like this? meh.

Glad your experience is better, and only 3 out of 7 were a problem in varying degrees for you. The original seven list came from my helping a new client join the fediverse and all seven they felt were "table stakes" that any social media should have resolved. But as with everything YMMV.
@tchambers @Floppy @manyfold @deadsuperhero fair enough. folks coming from other social media will have pre-expectations, and my personal take is that those expectations are not _always_ reasonable.
we see this in software a lot. if a user has always used software X, then they tend to assume that the foibles of X are not foibles but a reasonable defaut. sometimes this can cause a barrier to adopting Y, but it doesn't mean Y is at fault.
