@davidgerard i've only ever used it a handful of times last year for meetings with me, my ndis support co-ordinator and my boyfriend, and we used the official server. it was janky enough we went back to zoom, even though its free option now has a 40 minute timer and our meetings go for 60 (we just leave then hop back in and the timer resets itself lol).
@davidgerard
@neil didn't you run a jitsi server until recently?

@davidgerard I have not. I did want to also put forward the idea of Nextcloud or one of its competitors. I interviewed for a Nextcloud position but chose a job offer from the state of California before I could complete interviewing but they provide a video conference app as part of their whole self hosted "cloud" implementation. If that's part of your plans (moving off cloud services hosted by data-rapacious third parties), perhaps consider them too. I do personally use Jitsi now but am strongly considering doing a self hosted "cloud" replacement with Nextcloud even though I don't have a professional relationship with them.
@perigee I've glanced passingly at nextcloud, if you ever do it do post about your experience
@davidgerard @perigee i've been running a personal nextcloud server for years now. it does quite well
