I drop in every few days to check on my semi-dormant fediverse presence. This is the kind of post that gets me to come back the next time. A recommendation, a little humor (techie stuff not mandatory) and that's usually enough.

The middle of the linked Mat Duggan piece also explains why I spend more time on Bluesky than here in the post-Twitter era, and it does so without throwing shade. Not everyone is good at that.

He wrote this and it made me laugh out loud. Granted, I'm an easy target for a geeky laugh, but still...so are most of you. That's just one of the reasons I love you.

I think you and I cancel each other out in a nice way: I drop in on BS to keep an eye on my BS self and come back feeling like I went to a bigger store than usual and ended up overstimulated with three things in my basket I wasn’t looking for. No shade either. Just different, and both useful.

@kate I don't work much at "building community" here, w/ or w/o quotes, which I admit. To stay with your store metaphor: It's like the hardware & electronics sections are too big for me, and distract me from other topics and convos. Not the vibe I want as primary.

Some of the more techie guys I know (mainly it's guys) are rollover contacts from G+ or Twitter, and I definitely want to keep them around. So there's that.

I do wish there was more regionally for me, as you seem to have found.
