Spent too long figuring out yes, I can replace my existing Debian server setup with FreeBSD *and* also figuring out that wanting to replace systemd because it’s too big a blob of responsibilities, with an OS that has the kernel & most of userland all in the one big blob… is kind of nuts.
Other hot takes: ZFS’s good. Jails are interesting. The BSD license is stupid, & I like having the kernel, init, build system, utils, & everything else made by different people.
Which is where I started. 🤷
