chatting with a friend about how Iran carefully targeted AWS in *all three geographically separated AZs* to take out a whole region, and i wrote:
did a whole redundancy plan for BMJ for a coupla months. It was pretty good! We got as far as multi-AZ. I sketched out plans for multi-region (which is not really different as long as you're inside AWS structurally, tho byte charges across regions will kill you) and discovered that ~nobody *actually* does multi-cloud yet, they're too different once you get beyond "we need terraformable Ubuntu boxes" or "we need k8s with a pile of arbitrary Docker images".
that I have 25 years in sysadmin and can write all that having actually done all that and *still* can't find a new job in tech tells you a bit about the state of tech employment right now
