If you are in the streets, protesting the government, like doing real effective resistence and shutting it down, and then you align yourself or allow yourself to be aligned with a political party in that same system - what happens when that political party wins an election?

You're retired right? Cause you can't protest "the government" when "the government" is what you said you were aligned with right? So what happens when they DON'T fix the shit?

Well - you're living it right? Cause the Dem Party has done that like 3 times at least now since 9/11. No the movement does not just "fire right back up and protest the state" - you are effectively demobilized and have to start over. And well, I think the Dems know that? Like I think it's now demonstrable enough to them that they can dismantle our movements this way and set us back years by doing this. So it's just a thing they do now. It was a strategy, under Obama, but now it's just policy.

@AnarchoNinaWrites@jorts.horse they're not even promising to do the thing people want, anymore. Because they seem to think (or know) that they don't have to. I want to prove them wrong.

But my god: a year, a year and a half of ethnic cleansing and then two random white people are killed and then finally the DNC leaders take the bold position of... "reform ICE", which isn't a solution to the problem at all. Yes, the dems held strong and didn't give more funding to ICE, recently. But how much money does ICE still have from that "big fucking stupid ass bill" that made them, what, the 7th most well funded army in the world? You telling me they've run through that? Sure, they didn't end making them the 5th or 6th most well funded, I guess. Great.

And it was all avoidable, because Schumer and other leaders gave up all their leverage on the budget immediately. Which is what resulted in the "big beautiful bill" being proposed and passed, which is exactly what everyone said would happen. They also have never delayed a single moment on rush confirming every single Trump appointee, no matter how wildly incompetent, unfit, and blatantly corrupt they are. Ever.

Much like the pandemic, the best time to stop all this fascist shit in the second term was (ignoring that they've spent their entire careers helping to pave the road to it) right after the inauguration. If they were serious, as a party, AT ALL, about doing anything progressive or otherwise halting and reversing the fascist descent underway, they would have borrowed a play from McConnell's book and not just played along with every vote while pretending everything was normal. Day 1 had plenty of unenforceable, illegal executive orders released that, had you doubted what the aim of the american fascist project was, should have been sufficient proof of the reality of it; yet Schumer was on a book tour.

Even now, they say "affordability is important and our goals". If they actually believed that, they WOULD impeach Trump: his dumb fucking antics have caused the cost of living to spiral. But what they mean by that is they're going to give their buddies more money to open up low wage jobs to tweak employment numbers or greenlight the military going in and killing people for oil to "bring the cost of gas down". They're not gonna do shit.
