I love when Trump threatens to do something that would be actively good and also reduce his power like any five year old can't figure out he's full of shit.
Y'all should say "cool story Grandpa, let's do it." He's not gonna take you up on that offer and if he does uh, boo hoo? Discount Hitler has less guys in your country? That's a BAD outcome somehow? You are gonna have to kick us out once he goes full Napoleon anyway.
@AnarchoNinaWrites it鈥檚 terrifying to hear Trump threatening Europeans like that. Just look at all the nothing what happened to France after de Gaulle kicked them out in 1966.
@AnarchoNinaWrites That's one thing I appreciate about my country: De Gaulle was far from perfect as a president but he definitely got this part right. No American bases here in France.

At this point, I think we can safely write off the idea Russia is going to run across Europe like the ghost of Zhukov is commanding their armies - they're having rather a lot of trouble running over "parts of Ukraine" and that conflict is not trending in their FAVOR anymore at the moment either. Plus, serious question - if Putin does attack you, are you like actually sure Trump is gonna order US troops to "do" anything about that? I'm not. I mean he might. But also.. well, you know him and Putin
And I'm not discounting the fact that it is to some degree or another advantageous to buttress your defense with American soldiers. But also those soldiers now work for "dumber Hitler" and dumber Hitler seems to like most of your "enemies" better than he likes you. So I'm not really sure that trade is worth what it used to be and if you're betting on Americans becoming sane again at some point - well, we pulled that trick on you twice already after Bush and Trump 1.0. Lucy + football, mate.
The other angle of course is that having America in NATO, and American troops in Europe, also makes it easier to you know, trust one another, as a "community of nations."
And I understand that, I'm familiar with the (actually three) continental wars that lead to the establishment of this Pig Empire world order. But also - fuck trusting each other, how can you trust us? I don't trust us. We're fucking unhinged and our president is a fascist whackjob narcissist who might have a messiah complex.
A solid 35% of the population has had over a year to look at Trump 2.0 and said "yup, I'm fucking loving it" even as it has ACTIVELY harmed them, directly.
So you need to ask yourself - do you think we, Americans, are gonna like what, fix these people? Punish them in any way? Of course we're not gonna do that. Which means they will remain in the body politic and we will be one election away from Hitler for the foreseeable future.
