@lake the treacherous snail eating birds >:( regular birds are ok tho
@lake took me 3mins to realize what's going on. Should've read your text as well I guess.
@lake should we just kill them inorder to make our crops look nice or
@Joshuakevins12 my child you must study the ancient texts
@lake ok am a farmer
All of the snails that you farm must be the same kind

The latter reviews retired Justice Bryer's 2024 book Reading the Constitution: Why I Chose Pragmatism, Not Textualism that begins with the snails on a train anecdote, that of a biology teacher transporting snails & a conductor who insisted that passengers who transport animals on the train must purchase a ticket for the animals.
@RMiddleton absolutely incredible
I only read the beginnings of the latter, and they sort of only hinted at it, but are they really defending the argument that the teacher should have bought a ticket for the snails?????? Lmao …
@lake pretty much, yeah. I first heard the story on a law podcast in which they also took that stance, arguing that the proper remedy is for the law to be written more clearly. Lawyers! Seems like the pertinent detail would be: Does the animal's container require an additional seat? Buy a ticket. Can it fit easily on the paying passenger's lap? No ticket.
@lake no recipes? 🤨
@knowprose I suppose it’s a bit basic on that end
@lake yeah. We need more recipes. 🤔
@knowprose Where is part 3 of snail zine :(
@lake I especially love the "snail-eating bird" illustration. I'll never mistake them for non-snail-eating birds again
@lake "thieves"!!! there are snail thieves!!
@lake When I burn out of computer stuff I will move high into the mountains & become a snail rancher.
@lake I think the family of snail-meat eaters depicted in the introduction section might actually qualify as ENEMIES OF THE SNAIL! The voles and frogs and thieves and such are simply competitors in the burgeoning snail consumption space and must be eliminated.
@lake snails have a lot of enemies
@lake I guess one's supposed to read it in a stern hollywood-esque military general voice
