Perhaps I'm being picky about terminology, but I would have said;
... what "free market" economic policy is supposed to deliver us; competitive markets.
Buzzphrases like "the free market" - or more often just 'the market' - are invented labels for a propaganda concept.
There's no monolith we can call "'the market' where all commerce happens, outside of planned economies anyway. In an economically democratic society there are as many markets as there are goods and services to be bought.
