Living in a city that is located at the sea and that supports reading a book by the sea is a game changer for me. It is not just that the distances are short. Also the streets and the public transport invite to enjoy Kiel‘s little beauties. Grapping a book, getting on your bike and just not worrying too much about being harrest or run over is something so calming that it feels very normal. Having save streets and seeing that politics and city administration work hand in hand to get rid of the still many dangerous and troubling parts of bad infrastructure coming from a car centric mindset that was dominant in the past an that is still very dominant in the two other cities where I have spent most of my lifetime. Bremen and Stuttgart.
Enjoying the urban outdoors in Kiel starts with the journey not at the destination.
