Why have I been begging the fascists fucks who run the tech industry to give me a job that doesn't destroy my soul and the world when I could just sell static websites to local businesses?

I've intentionally stayed away from web stuff because I hate so much of what the web has become. But there's an enormous need for simple websites with just good ol' fashion HTML + CSS. That's all most small businesses need. And they're willing to pay for it if it's sold well.
Do I think that making simple websites is the most technically interesting code I could be working on? No. But it won't eat my soul. And I could feasibly make enough money from it to have time to spare working on what I do find interesting with no expectation that would be lucrative.
I would not be surprised if in a few months you'll be hearing me talk about my new static site generator I wrote for myself in Rust. 🤪
I was thinking I should learn to make server backends so I have skills relevant for more job listings. Fuck that. I don't want a damn job. Most people who need a website don't need a backend.
