The selection of a kernel for long-term support is purely a matter of a maintainer having the need and the time to maintain that release. There are no known plans for long-term support for any specific upcoming release.
a maintainer doesn't have "the need and the time" to maintain an entire LTS kernel without a salary. maybe this was cute back in the 90s when usb device config descriptions developed their own meme ecosystem

@hipsterelectron incidentally `git clone --filter=blob:none` is a wonderful thing that I wish was far less of a mouthful than it is
