What the fuck is this new trend with companies basically making themselves uncontactable?
We use Intertek for testing (EMC/Safety) our FireBrick products. It is no secret that each time we do a product we spend tens of thousands on this process... because that is what it costs do do properly.
Today I have a minor idea to run by someone in Intertek. Can I call them on the phone? No. I try every number on their website. I try numbers on invoices. I'm told sales team "don't take calls". 1/3
2/3 The most disappointing thing is that when I did get hold of (say) an accounts team, the best they could do was give me another new number, which went to voicemail. When I called a number that got answered, it was the wrong team and - again - they could only "take a message".
I just wanted a quick chat about a possible new bit of business for them. I.e. for them to charge us money, and us to pay it.
But now I'm minded to just investigate a totally different conformity testing lab.
3/3 I can understand very small firms, who are work saturated or just don't have resources to filter junk calls etc.
But Intertek is a truly gargantuan GLOBAL firm. To have nobody answering the phone is a conscious choice - a deliberate decision. And I think it is the wrong decision.
