In the #Fediverse, most software is built around a specific platform model. One for microblogging, one for video, one for photos... and new ones will keep coming.
With #Holos, your phone runs your own #ActivityPub server. You control your data and can use your own domain as your identity.
Built on the protocol, not a platform model, Holos is not limited to a single use case. One account that adapts to your needs.
That's where we're heading, and we hope for your support.

@HolosSocial does it have to be my phone (that I carry around all day, than can easily be lost or damaged) that holds all my data, or is it also possible to setup holos on another device like a small VPS?

My understanding is that there was a proposal for an "option" to keep some of the data on the relay, which can run on fairly lightweight systems.

Also, once you get the URLs figured out you can automate daily backups to a small Minio (or similar) server.

The relay dependency is minimal. If other relays are available, switching is seamless. Without a custom domain, the app can perform a Move on its own since it holds the followers list and the keys, no permission from the relay is needed. With a custom domain, there's no need for a Move at all. The relay is designed to support custom domains.

We've mostly completed the work on Android. The next step is iOS (it needs some adjustments), and we also plan to support running Holos on a computer or VPS for those who prefer that setup.

Maybe if there was a PostmarketOS version, it could do that and what @kleisli wanted?
