While France's Minitel was overtaken (and sidelined) by the arrival of the internet, and is now really written out of stories about the information society, is it worth revisiting the French experience to re-think the domination of US Big Tech.

Alexander Hurst argues that it is, and while not a silver bullet, Europe •does* need to re-establish its 'information sovereignty' so this needs to be the direction of travel.
