Last night around 11 pm Arturo started braying. It’s very unusual as this is usually when everyone is quiet. So we both got out of bed, put on warm clothes and went out to see what was up.

We checked on all the animals, looked inside and outside the barn, checked their waterers. Nothing seemed amiss.

We concluded that he just wanted to be tucked in for the night. So we stayed a good while, gave everyone scratches, talked to them quietly… under the vast canopy of the heavens.
