In the context of the #DigitalCoup Denmark is working towards #DigitalSovereignty.

Interestingly, they have a Minister for Digitalisation. They start with LibreOffice, "with a full transition to open-source software by the end of the year."

Motivations are (licensing) costs and political tensions, to protect data and reduce reliance on foreign tech.

Of course MS can waive the upcoming licensing costs, and they might return to US tech dependency. But many governments are now making similar, or more audacious transitions.

I wonder why the Danes didn't yet join the EDIC for Digital Commons? There's important shared investments being made, e.g. in collaborative workspaces...
