It’s theorized that Earth’s first moon was a Mars-sized planet, named Theia.

And that their gravity pulled them together, obliterating Theia during the collision and forcing Earth into its 23° axis. The birth of our seasons.

For a brief period we had two moons, before one was absorbed by Earth. Our current moon remained.

It’s a scientific hypothesis, not fact. But a fascinating possibility all the same.
