This funny looking, render glitched Turbo #Moka was a gift and after a couple of weeks in daily use I have to say the thing really does what it says on the aluminum. It’s a bit expensive but it will hopefully last forever, and it seems to be compatible with Bialetti consumables.

A turbo moka, which looks like a regular moka pot but with a turbine-like base that looks a bit like a citrus squeezer. It’s happily brewing coffee on a gas stove, steam visible from the spout. The photo is rendered in artful black and white to make it look like dust in the scene is film grain (or something)

@acb @db @cstross I have the induction-compatible Moka pot (basically just a stainless steel version) and it heats up extremely quickly. Probably faster than these spiral flame versions!

@cstross @acb @db I wonder if the existence of these optimised-for-gas ones has come about because of the USA's low power domestic wiring? Similar to how I have heard they don't tend to use electric kettles as much. (is that true or an urban myth?)
