PETA animal activists ask to move the viral macaque ‘Punch’ to a sanctuary: “What some call adorable is a trauma”

> The animal defense organization PETA demanded this Tuesday the transfer to a sanctuary of the japanese macaque Punch, which went viral for clinging to a stuffed animal at the Ichikawa City Zoo, claiming that the animal suffers trauma from captivity and isolation.

> “Like all macaques, Punch you should grow up in a close-knit family group, learning vital social skills and exploring a rich natural habitat, and not seeking the comfort of a toy in a cement pit”, said Jason Baker, president of PETA Asia, according to a statement shared Tuesday by the animal rights organization.
