Statement regarding#ThriveMessenger
One user is claiming that we're starting drama all because we're not letting certain people on who have a track record of questionable behavior on other platforms. Let me make this clear: Thrive Messenger is not Elten, where people can get away with murder, figuratively speaking. This is a messenger, and either if we get reports of users causing discomfort for other users, or a user with a known track record signs up, we will not tolerate that. Just thought I'd make that clear, as I want Thrive Messenger to be a safe platform for people to communicate on, and to do that we need to make sure that people are behaving responsibly.

@alexchapman @munchkinbear I had no idea Elton even existed. But I will definitely be coming back to this thread, because I definitely want to try out this messenger.
@alexchapman Presumably this person is free to start their own server, right?
And there's no interconnectivity bteween servers, is that true?
If I wanted to run one on a network, for example, for local machines to use, I could do that internally?
@cachondo People can do their own servers, but right now there's no federation stuff, but that will hopefully come in the form of XMPP, but right now Stu and I are focusing on getting all the user facing features and the UI sorted, as right now we know that messages can successfully send and be received, as well as files. We're basically in the realm of getting the UI up to scratch and then we will get round to working out federation and stuff like that.
@alexchapman is thrive a federated service? i.e if you register on one server, can you contact entities on another server via that?

@alexchapman at that point why not just make Thrive an XMPP client outright? We need an MSN messenger-like, native, lightweight, E2E encrypted, XMPP client. Miranda NG exists, but Miranda NG is a janky mess that I still haven't figured out how to create a multi-user chat from

@freya No, but the whole thing's an early alpha so eventually there will be stuff like more technical documentation.

@alexchapman good. because I need a place where I dont' have to worry about discomfort. If every time there is something new, and it becomes unsafe. that just makes me not want to try cool things anymore, because some one or some ones wan'ts to make it worse for everyone. and we don't need asshats showing up and causing chaotic discomfort for people

@randomuser Windows, but it can be ran on Mac. IOS and Android will be coming at some point.

@NicksWorld Yeah, I merged a pull request last night that had a bunch of new stuff, and I think groups may be one of them, but things still need finalising before a new release is pushed out.

@NicksWorld Yeah, the dev doesn't bother to help with moderation, and also hasn't improved things to prevent spammers.
