@ellenor2000 I just hate the taste of black pepper, and I suspect all the salt made it worse
but like
this was the kind of burn I expect from chili peppers

@WizardOfDocs ... spiked black pepper? #lang_en
@WizardOfDocs Pepper is powerful enough that there have been wars fought over it
@Canageek I mean, the obvious answer is that we've put a bit of effort into finding grocery store butter chicken we can eat
and I got very excited last week when we found that palak paneer
not to mention the buffet your coworkers like
@Canageek so much made sense when you told me that Indian restaurants in North America add extra spices, presumably to keep things exotic for white people
@WizardOfDocs I believe British ones do as well, but it's it's dependent on what dish you order, apparently some of the dishes are heinously spicy, they just add that level of spicy to all the dishes because it's what people expect, at least according to my coworker
@Canageek knowing that that's not how real Indian food works has made me a lot more interested in trying Indian food
and yes, I've heard there are British Indian dishes that white people treat as tests of manliness
@WizardOfDocs @Canageek That would be the phaal. I’ve never tried it - vindaloo is more than enough for me - but you don’t see it as much as you used to. Maybe it’s an off-menu selection these days. 🤔
