"Yet lawyers for the parents suing point to internal documents at the companies stressing the goal of making social media apps difficult to put down through features like infinite scroll, auto-play, likes, beauty filters and push notifications."

I'm three out of five, I don't have beauty filters and push notifications.

@fedicat I’m always curious if these types of things are talking about infinite scroll as in “you literally can’t run out of posts to scroll because the algorithm will always find more to show you”, or as in the UI mechanism of loading the next page when you scroll instead of pressing a button. I’ve never seen an article about this that specified which one they were talking about.

Nothing with a chronological timeline really meets the first definition

@dale_price people say infinite like they say exponential, it's the new math

@fedicat finite scrolling would be mastodon's 800 posts limit on the home timeline 🙈

@cheeaun They have a limit? That's a relief!
