calling independent 1:1 music lesson teachers (boosts welcome!)

I've been contemplating recently how, while it's lovely to own my own means of production by teaching solo, there isn't really a capacity for unionizing. I'm a member of MTNA, but that provides professional connections and resources, not collective bargaining.

I also am very emphatic about not undercharging to avoid undercutting my colleagues, but I've noticed not all music teachers think this way. (1/x)

I'm wondering: what would it look like for independent music teachers to unionize? What might be a useful template for that from other industries? How can we work together to avoid siloing ourselves within our respective studios?

I'm just in the earliest stages of thinking about this, but I welcome any insights as I keep chewing on this line of thought. (2/2)
