is there a company that makes robust high-end productivity mice? Logitech's hardware longevity isn't hitting the mark for how expensive their MX Master series is (it's really unacceptable that a £10 mouse lasts decades and a £200 mouse lasts a year), and their software is absolutely clownshoes bad.

I'm not interested in trackballs or strange orientations. I want something professional and robust, wireless, with side buttons, no gamer RGB 50000dpi crap. an MX Master 2S but actually well-built.

@gsuberland not sure of longevity or if it has enough buttons for your use-case, but the UGREEN Ergonomic series might be a fit? I’ve got one and it’s been solid for 2-3 years of regular KiCad, non-FPS gaming, etc.

Zero software involved, at least I didn’t need to install anything to make it work.

And they’re cheap, so even if the build quality is on-par with Logitech’s current crap, you won’t feel bad for dropping $15 on a new one instead of $150.

@gsuberland some of the gamer mice are pretty well-built fwiw, I have used endgame gear for work for years and they’re consistently very good

@gsuberland I tried a lot of the “professional” stuff (high-end Logitech, ergonomic mice, roller mouse, etc) but I come back to these

please don't reply with things that only meet some of my requirements. "it doesn't exist" is an entirely reasonable answer, and a preferred one over half-solutions.

I feel like there's a market gap for someone to come in and make premium high-reliability mice designed for professionals. well documented HID map for the extra buttons, lightweight and reliable (but optional) software for customising buttons and gestures, a good cross-platform SDK for any fancy features like haptic feedback or adjustable scroll wheel resistance.

the professional keyboard market is completely saturated already, but mice have been largely overlooked.

@halcy @gsuberland I honestly moved to a gamer mouse (the razor basilisk 3) despite its RGB gamer lights, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it for longevity since one feature has already stopped working (the fancy automatic scroll has gummed up, which is really sad as I absolutely loved that feature)

Apparently their actual buttons last a lot longer than Logitech mice, but I don't know if they make anything other than ridiculous gamer mice
