A lot of people complain that when they federate their blog over AP, and people comment in the fediverse, the authors don't see notifications. Because they're buried deep in the admin interface. I haven't got my Ghost blog federating yet (watch this space), but from memory I experienced this with #Plume and #WriteFreely.

I have an idea about how to fix his.

Maybe apps could get people using AP with their blog to enter the fediverse @handle they want to receive notifications on. Then when someone's comments on one of their blog posts from the fediverse, the app could send a notification to that @handle with a link to the comment post. Maybe even forward the whole comment post?

Does this sound even vaguely workable?

@strypey

That sounds like a good idea, but I'm not a dev so I don't know how feasible it is technically. Sorry I can't help on this front 😦 Maybe @pfefferle (author of WordPress Fediverse plugin) might be better person to ask?

(Vaguely recall there might have been someone else's plugin long time ago that linked a Mastodon account? Not sure though.)

By the way, had a go on Ghost federation and it's pretty nice. There's a dedicated section for Fediverse timelines, replies, notifications etc.
