Fruit tree people of Mastodon: Call for research participation!
I'm currently compiling a scholarly research project on how different cities handle urban fruit trees: growing, gleaning, maintenance, and regulation. This is in service of doing more food sovereignty and climate work better, and learning from each other in a streamlined way.
I know there's a solid community of growers here at minimum, and I'd love to talk with anyone who's:
1) Growing fruit trees and has insights on what's surprising or difficult about them;
2) Involved in food forests or public urban orchards;
3) Involved in urban gleaning projects;
4) Has something interesting to say on this topic that you think I have not covered here.
If you're interested, I would love to hear from you, and thank you all in advance for considering.
Here is a picture of the 110 lbs of cherries I picked last summer off one (1) downtown backyard tree for posting this on a Sunday.
