Instead of applause, someone should have said: The United States is welcome as a partner, but only within a fair and rules-based international order grounded in press freedom, climate responsibility, fair trade, and restraint in war.
Partnership requires reciprocity, not submission to #bigdaddy.
@wlaatje A healthy democracy should break ties with the US, but democracies in Europe aren't healthy themselves anymore.
@wlaatje He proclaimed the west should return to conquer the rest of the world , and that weak Europe should be stronger so together , by fire, they may can expand the great civilisation.

The global south should take notice on who is in favor of this new “western” nationalist world order.. and who is applauding and fighting for a multilateral world with institutions and international law and prosperity that works for everyone…
