The AI convo on @atpfm was missing a big part. People are losing their jobs to AI. Businesses are using it as an excuse to fire programmers and reduce staff.

Worse yet, AI is making us dumber. No one has to learn how languages work or API best practices when the BS machine does it all.

It happens to me every day. I’m required to use Cursor at work and I feel my critical thinking skills slipping away. I’m not retaining knowledge of the frameworks and APIs anymore.

@gabesalkin I’m pretty sure we’ve mentioned both job loss and skill atrophy in our various conversations these last few weeks.

@siracusa I honestly think it bears repeating more often. These are huge structural problems with AI adoption.

I’m excited about AI as a force multiplier as much as the next dev. I know it’s just where we’re headed as an industry. But I think we’re going to lose a lot along the way if we’re not more measured in adoption
