You know the Eglinton crosstown light rail line 5 that just opened 6 years behind schedule?
Yeah, it's not AODA (accessibility legislation) compliant. Embarrassingly so.
Now one station has both elevators and escalators out of service, and the stations are obscenely deep. Thanks Metrolinx.
@mayintoronto that's bloody terrible. wasn't the AODA already in force for six years when construction started?
@adub Yep. The deadline for compliance was 2025.
@mayintoronto @adub I faintly remember that even long before (late 2000s?), disability activists were pointing out the TTC wouldn't be able to meet the standard.
