Not computer related but, my favourite "dipping" book is Music Lessons by Bob Wiseman. If you play music, aspire to play music professionally, teach music, are a music student or just appreciate the humourous ramblings of a cantankerous veteran, the short anecdotes and musings are entertaining and informative.

@corvus I am, sadly, allergic to music theory. I've tried many times to understand it and have concluded that it is witchcraft.
