What's up with all the gay hockey romances? Yesterday I was looking for something new to read and more than half of the new books I could find were hockey themed. And the other half was coming of age. Seriously, I'm a forty something enby, with two kids near the coming of age age, whose only interest in sports is during the olympics and whose only contact with hockey was when I was a kid and we played hockey on a frozen pond.

@Zahlenzauberin That's what's advertised but the library catalogues offer great filters beyond the algorithmic/curated recommendations on the first page

@fuzzyleapfrog sadly my library is seriously understocked in the queer romance department. And there is nothing left if your filters are not sapphic, no coming of age, no sports and no dark romance blobcatpensive

@Zahlenzauberin In the mood for recommendations to the library? Otherwise bookstores offer similar filters but yeah, it's about buying books then 🫠

@Zahlenzauberin Me, who just rated an Alexis Hall book not so good 🫣 but I get the Vibe of both authors!

I enjoyed the following non-sapphic non-sports not-too-much-young-adult books: "The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue", "If this gets out", "A Gentlemen's Gentleman" and I enjoyed very much "Most Ardently". The "All that's left in the world" series is tough (apocalyptic) but great. Oh, and "Peter Darling" was a surprisingly amazing read.

@Zahlenzauberin Most of them were reads for my book club. So maybe, if you enjoy these books and want some social reading, that might be an option for you. Unfortunately, it's hosted on Discord which is in a vague state atm.
