I think I'm going to have to migrate to iOS 26 now, as they've stopped releasing updates entirely for iOS 18 unless you're on a device that can't run iOS 26. Very cheeky from Apple.

@decryption hmm, you may want to wait a little longer to see if 26.4 address this very annoying issue https://www.macobserver.com/news/ios-26-is-forcing-apps-to-reload-every-time-and-users-are-not-happy. I have turned off background processing on just about all of my apps on my iPad but still have it happening. I have not noticed as much on my iPhone, however I do not tend to app switch as much.

@decryption It's not so bad, now that you can tone down the Liquid Glass UI.

@decryption interesting, this is the one instance where endoflife.date doesn't provide a better table of the state of play - while it has page for the iphone and another for ios it's not clear how they relate ... normally they'd be my go-to site for this info
https://endoflife.date/ios

endoflife.date

Apple iOS

Check end-of-life, release policy and support schedule for Apple iOS.

@mherbert yep - technically iOS 18 is still supported, but only on iPhones that can’t install iOS 26. Apple never used to do this, but because of presumably low take up of iOS 26 they’re pulling this sneaky shit.
