Idk anything about investments, so someone let me know if this is possible or not, but I just managed my banker than handles my retirement and told them to not invest in any businesses involved with Epstein. Like Microsoft.

I can't in good conscience have my money going to support a giant company that had ties like that. Bill Gates for instance is in there MANY times.

And thankfully the folks at Epstein exposed.com has made a wonderful database showing all the businesses that have ties to him.

I'll be contacting my representatives in the morning as well to find out why they aren't doing more about this blatant and incompetent cover up.

@ozoned it's a nightmare to invest ethically unless you have the time to investigate everything in great detail 😔

I spent weeks earlier this year moving what little investments / pension I have out of US orgs and into more ethical / sustainable options but acknowledge that it's going to cost me in the long run.

My old 'climate plan' pension was 80% US stocks and a large part of that was the so called magnificent 7 which beggars belief! The new one is only 12% US and none of the 7.

@not_a_label@toot.lgbt Honestly, I don't care about my retirement. I've thought for a long time there was massive fraud in the market. How can Tesla lose what was it like 75% of it's profits and it's stock go up the next day?

So I'm fine taking the hit, as I've never expected to be able to retire, even though I save.

But I just spoke to my banker who talked to me about ESG Funds. Environmental, Social and Governance funds. They're not going to be perfect, but they'll be better than right now.

@ozoned so it is doable but it made my head hurt sorting it out! I'm in the UK so the options are probably different but there must be equivalent things over there - I've also changed mine from 100^% equity to a mix of stocks, bonds etc to try and even out the effect of the giant cheeto in chief having a rant 🤦‍♂️

@ozoned@btfree.social pls don't make hasty financial decisions based on LLM summaries of the epstein files. i understand not wanting to support these people, but i do not trust that site as the basis for financial decisions.

ddossecrets has a list of articles on this https://ddosecrets.org/article/epstein-files . i don't know the reputation of all the journalists involved, but i trust them infintely more than whatever vibecoded slopsite you've linked to.

@ozoned yesterday I've this movie called "Blue Steel" where the police know who the killer is. They even saw him murder in cold blood. And the killer knows that the police knows. But they can't do anything to him, because he has a very good lawyer.
