Kia Ora, Wellington! Time to add some QR codes to my talk (starting in 90 min) to get a few more people to write to the FCC https://darksky.org/news/two-satellite-proposals-threaten-the-night-sky-the-window-to-act-is-now/ #ProfSamLectureTour

@sundogplanets if I recall correctly, Hari used to do excellent talks at Space Place in Wellington just by my apartment there!

@sundogplanets Wow, gorgeous intergalactic view! There's lots of reasons I want to go to New Zealand and/or Australia someday, but night-sky watching is probably at the top of the list.

@sundogplanets Those are gorgeous skies! I would be completely disoriented, I've been to a few dozen countries but never the southern hemisphere.

(Did you hear France launched 32 Amazon satellites today?)

Also I stayed up way too late, and woke up too early, and I have to give another talk tonight in Wellington: https://www.wgtn.ac.nz/scps/about/events/astronomer-vs-the-billionaires-space-race

But at least it's gorgeous here and this is my last night of rapid-fire consecutive talks before I head to Christchurch for my home base for the next 6 weeks (with a few more talks, but not 4 in 5 days in different cities like this week, phew) #ProfSamLectureTour

@sundogplanets great talk, thanks! Hopefully you'll get a bit more quiet time with great skies and some legendary South Island auroras

@sundogplanets Given how corrupt the US government is today, would you say there was a reasonable likelihood of public submissions influencing the decision-making around satellite regulation / launch approvals?
