The #BrokenTimes Editorial Board at last speaks out against ICE's murderous lawlessness--and, of course, uses the opportunity to bothsides and criticize ... the Democrats for the reforms they demand. The moral vacuity of the so-called "center."

The list is overly broad in places and offers a reminder of why many Americans have lost faith in the Democratic Party on this issue. Democrats should make clear that they support the legitimate enforcement of immigration law. They should avoid the sweeping statements that some members of the party have used in recent years, including calls for sanctuary cities, the decriminalization of border crossings and the abolition of ICE. Recent polls show that Mr. Trump’s thuggish immigration policies are unpopular — but that more Americans still trust the Republican Party on immigration than the Democratic Party.

@jeffjarvis there IS no "center." There is a subset of rightwingers who know they lack the mojo to win a primary in a party that doesn't rig its primaries so they can't run in the GOP and win if a politician, or lack the mojo to acquire an audience like a Tucker or Schapiro if in media. This is why Democrat politicians always acquiesce to the GOP and neoliberal media always bothsides everything. These people LOVE the GOP, they just sadly aren't talented enough to compete in a competitive pool.

@jeffjarvis

DEM national party has lost American wage earners support decades ago and replaced with very wealthy donors and corporations concerns.

They are fairly close to GOP on wage earner, public education, medical costs issues, meaning they abdicated to private corporation interests.

Now with ICE behavior, civil rights curtailment on the agenda. NT Times just part of the trend......
