This is a very good article and it reminded me how much we've been spoiled in Italy when it comes to shōjo manga compared to the US/UK. The titles that are mentioned as not being well known in the anglophone sphere - such as Haikara-san ga Tooru and Glass Mask - have almost all been adapted in Italian, both in manga and anime form.
