If anyone's after some tips on how to stop using Discord, I found that simply not using it because I didn't understand it really helped. 👍

@TheBreadmonkey listen, mate. Your technical jargon isn’t going to cut it here!
@TheBreadmonkey It refused to verify I was a real person when I finally tried to sign up six months ago, so I deleted it immediately.
@TheBreadmonkey https://mattermost.com or https://stoat.chat are viable alternatives that can be self-hosted if desired.
What worked for me was shutting it down the instant it asked me to get Nitro.
Which was as soon as it started up.
@TheBreadmonkey so like same as the internet or life past four?(
@TheBreadmonkey what's not to understand? It's exactly the same thing as Slack or Teams.
Post it on the "Don't-It-Yourself Blog"
@TheBreadmonkey Having a much more Concord personality was my ticket past Discord.
@TheBreadmonkey That's what I did.
The condo board had a Discord channel, which was somewhat useful for sending messages to other owners or asking questions from the board.
Since I sold it, I've no use for it anymore.
"Smash that Like button, don't forget to subscribe to my channel and follow me on Discord!" Uh, no. No, I don't think I will."
@TheBreadmonkey I thought about doing discord for one account. when I discovered its just cable access tv (the channel is only live at certain times) I immediately stopped caring. I work graveyard and that schedule does not fit anybody else's schedule
@TheBreadmonkey Not knowing what it even was until it became untouchable was even better.
@TheBreadmonkey one of the problem is their "chat like" way of working.
if you are not 24/7 on community is literally impossible to follow, and the multiplication of channel slowed the issue, but did not fix it so i left 2 years ago.
And honestly little have changed in my life.
@TheBreadmonkey Also never starting to use it helps.
@TheBreadmonkey Not needing any of the features it offered worked for me.
@TheBreadmonkey I’m looking forward to your tips on kicking a fentanyl habit.
I'll be honest - I had it once and it was really terrific. Like 10/10. I can't recommend it enough.
@TheBreadmonkey @Nickiquote
I got fentanyl once and I was off balance for weeks. 0 out of 10, do not recommend.
@TheBreadmonkey @Nickiquote The paramedics gave me morphine on Christmas Eve. Massive anticlimax, bit shit really. Was over it after 10 minutes.
Much like Discord.
@TheBreadmonkey @Nickiquote Just discovered that molecule tattoos are a thing. Looking up tramadol.
@TheBreadmonkey Not being able to create an account on it ever, worked for me.
