@ProPublica this honestly seems like a nonsensical article, PFAS being present in clothing as a water repellent are ubiquitous in technical clothing such as hiking clothes and honestly nearly any water repellent clothing worn by people who work outside.

The highest risk for firefighters is still the smoke inhalation and the inhalation of fumes from plastics etc…

Though there are of course also risks from various types of firefighting foam
