How are you managing your business/company without Big Tech? I would love to hear specifically selfhosted tools.

I have been managing my one person firm with Nextcloud, Trillium Notes and Forgejo. But now I am getting an employee and need to have files/information shared with other person. I have used Cryptpad for managing tasks and files previously, but loved to hear other options.

@mika why can't you share with nextcloud?

We use owncloud in our 2-person company, and it works fine.
The official clients use the webdav connector, and it seems stable on windows, Linux and android.

We use redmine for project management that we host ourselves too.
We use openfire (XMPP) for chat and voice and video calls.

If we were bigger, we would probably need to find a financial package, but libreoffice is enough.

We use DokuWiki for documentation.

@chewie I can share the Nextcloud and that is most likely what I will do (at least for files). I am just looking other option and experiences of using them, specifically for business.

Hello! I'm running a (small) law firm on Free software, and I love it :)

This is a couple of years old, and has changed a bit - from Nextcloud to syncthing (for file sync) and radicale (caldav/carddav), mainly - but still a pretty good overview of what we do.

I'm happy to answer questions.

@neil Thanks for sharing this was really nice detailed list!

Do you use Cryptomator for all files or just extra sensitive?

@mika

I use it for all my client / work files.

I do not use it for my downloads dir, so I make sure I keep that clear of anything sensitive.

@neil @mika

I came across https://stalw.art/ (new email/DAV server in rust) recently and was looking for a calendar server, i also run my own email so this could kill two proverbial birds, it seems early development, but I may test it out as a backup email server.

@houba

Yes, I looked at it, and went for radicale, as a lightweight DAV server.
