I got a new bag to replace my $15 AliExpress daily carry. This one was way more than $15 but I really liked how it was made in Melbourne. There’s so few things I can carry on me all the time made where I live. Lifetime warranty too.

@decryption my daily driver
@decryption as a Crumpler hoarder you’ve made the right choice. I have so many. Camera bags, camera backpacks, laptop bags, everyday bags..more just because the design was cute colors 🤪💅 Only thing that ever failed on me is the glued together camera bag inserts.
@decryption Your first Crumpler?
@decryption Nice. Such great bags. Great to see they're making some locally!
@decryption Wait Crumpler are making things locally again?!?!?
I had a Fitzroy-made Crumpler for 10 years or so until some crackheads robbed us in London. Made me very sad. Then the replacement (made in Vietnam) wasn't anywhere near the quality.
@shermozle yeah! they have a range of made in melb bags now

one of my post lockdown micro obsessions was to track down one of the OG 1990s "made in melbs" bags and I eventually found one (laptop not messenger bag) on gumtree in near new nick.
It's great that they have managed to emerge from the private equity mess with some of the founders back at the helm, and making bags here again.
Now we have 7 crumpler bags in the house I have been warned to not accumulate more 😄 2 of them purchased new with the lifetime warranty receipts.
@decryption Crumpler FTW. I still have my dSLR messenger bag from nearly 20 years ago. Still in amazing condition and going strong.
@decryption I actually need a new daily carry myself... and you're making me think I should go check out their pop-up in Sydney.
@web_goddess whenever you're in melbourne you'll fit right in
@decryption so nice their foray into the corporate world died off and they’ve gone back to their roots. This magnificent specimen is going on 15 years of daily use.
@jpm @decryption love my Crumpler. Mine’s also 15+ years old I reckon.
And they honour the lifetime - I have mine repaired a couple of times for free, and they’ve given me a loan bag to use while they fix mine.
@jpm @decryption damn. I had one of them. It’s probably buried in a wardrobe somewhere after I went off over the shoulder bags
@jpm looks in great condition too
@decryption bit faded after 15 years of being flung around and going through the wash a couple of times, but yeah still solid.
@jpm @decryption a weird note of caution: a friend of mine recently sent a well loved bag in for repair. It wasn’t in great shape and they made no promises. It was taking some time so they asked for a progress report and were eventually told it was beyond repair, but not to worry, they had “recycled” it for spare parts. My friend would definitely have found another option to repair it, a treasured bag.
@simon @decryption uhhh, that’s pretty fucken rude!
@decryption @jpm Yeah, pretty wild thing to do.
@jpm @decryption OG mid 90s, not quite daily but continuous use
@uep @decryption they go well in the washing machine on a hand-wash cycle
