@serapath oh it's never going to be what you think.
@serapath oh it's never going to be what you think.
@lritter hm. i'm not convinced.
i feel more like sticking to ones world view and habbits is always easy and convenient and if everything was perfect - why change? isnt it perfect the way it is?
now if someone or something comes along to challenge it, fighting it seems natural, because after all we have our reasons and ha its and values and philosophies and so on for ... a reason.
I know plenty of very forward thinking elderly ppl, but of course the majority isnt.
@lritter
e.g. using learning impaired to describe for example an excuse that ppl who are mysogynistic cant improve because age... seems ridiculous.
replace mysogynistic for any other attribute or value or philosophy... or habit that is damaging to others and the planet.
inho its often the privileged who dont move their ways of being even an inch, often being ignorant or avoiding on purpose and causing billions to suffer elsewhere without even being aware.
of course not anyone individually
@lritter ...but collectively by having plenty of privileged peers (whether they know them personally or not) who are just as ignorant, avoiding and stuck in their ways.
And if those who see the issue raise awareness and suggest change
1. neither do they argue with the proposal to share their perspective and discuss whether the proposal is legit or not
2. nor do they just act to make change happen.
they instead ignore & continue as they always did causing frustration & the issue to persist
@serapath and yet what i said is also true.
yeah, all we need is a system where everyone can be happy with their behavior but nobody gets held hostage - and we resolve a lot of conflicts or make them go away "naturally"
@serapath i'm aware of all that. and not what i'm talking about. you'll see.
@lritter
we'll see.
they'll see - ....which is something i come to observe. who see's first now moves on in ways that leaves those who dont see with themselves. ...then things progress differently for both groups... at some point causing enough change for those that didnt see yet to see. and so change continues.
until we'll all see 馃榿
what a great world
@serapath no no. you personally. you will see my point.
@lritter
yeah - said every boomer since forever 馃榿
especially where i am from.
its a meme and cultural trait in some places, but these days it gets challenged.
it is so omni present, that some bands even make songs about it in places where its dominant narrative.
here is one example
