@decryption one place I worked had a stinking hot factory (big tin shed just north of Brisbane). The production manager's office had a window rattler aircon and the waste heat went back to the factory (cheaper than going through exterior wall). No consideration for the staff slaving away over hot baths of lead solder.

@decryption That place was toxic in all senses of the word. I lasted just over a year. Management didn't see a problem with 30-50% turnover of professional staff per year.

@jpm @decryption I worked at a service station in my teens and early twenties that had a very similar layout in the workshop — the bosses in the 'shark tower' were well cooled. I guess they didn't think anything more was needed when they built the place.
