@pezmico From the article which made me scoff:
RNZ In-Depth's Kirsty Johnston in November reported the response from "almost every corner - other than the gas industry itself - was a collective groan", with sector commentators calling it a "band-aid" solution that "doesn't make logical sense".
@pezmico
Because we refuse to general strike their arses out of OUR seats.
💯 pissed off by this for many reasons, all critical: 1 Shit economics & underestmation of cost of LNG terminal 2 Extends AoNZ dependency on international LNG supply & price 3 Burdens NZ taxpayers who will never use LNG 4 Huge opportunity cost of LNG versus solar, wind, hydro, geothermal 5 GHGs💥
@pezmico Sheesh. That’s mindbogglingly backwards looking. Can these people not even imagine a better future for NZ?
@pezmico Muldoon tried to give us energy independence.

However, he is usually cast as the villain, though for good reasons, running roughshod over the environment and due process. But I still believe the motive for synthetic fuels and domestically produced natural gas was sound (noting that EV and solar tech had not advanced sufficiently in the late 1970s).
The typo stays, goddammit. 😤
@pezmico stenography 😒
