For folks looking to make a change for "digital independence day"(*), give @CoMaps a look for offline, private & open-source navigation/maps.
Also: As someone who often prepares the social media images for the project, let us know what cool locations we could use to showcase features. Ideally places that aren't the usual suspects from the global north!

@CoMaps @gedankenstuecke tried it, maybe i'm using it wrong, but do i habe to download wach area to be able to search for streets there? If so, this is unusable for fast navigation

@ChrisMcZork @CoMaps yes, it's designed for fully offline (and thus private) navigation. You need to download your local map areas (or the areas you regularly visit) once, and then you can use it even when not having any connectivity.
For most use cases that works reasonably well, unless you travel large distances, to varying locations, on a daily basis (eg if your work makes you visit different places every couple of days).
