/me was like: data are on a separated partition, so synchronising the root partition won’t be data destructive.

the rsync process: you told me to delete everything not present in the source. Your data are not present in the source but the data partition is still mounted and accessible from root. So, eventhough this sounds stupid, I’ll delete them anyway as you asked Master Whonowsbest.
