We’ve hit -40C (or F. It’s the same at this temperature) today. That’s the first time in three winters. Typically we would get about a week of -40s every year some time after the Sun returns. Not so the last two years. #Nunavut

@NunavutBirder
A couple years ago it was raining in Fairbanks between Christmas and new years. The time of year when anything over 10F is unseasonal but -10F is the norm.
@chmod777 Been a very mild winter this year throughout the Baffin
@NunavutBirder in the Peg it is definitely warmer overall than when I was younger. However there are a lot more extremes: really wet, really dry, really cold, really hot. It is above zero again this week, unheard of in my childhood
@krst Changing world. That’s for certain.
@NunavutBirder It’s wild how climate change has such wildly different effects in different places.
On the last few years, it’s common to see the weather here in Sask go from -40 to 0 after only a few weeks and back again. Lots of big extremes and fluctuations.
Stay warm! ❤️💜
