Hey fellow admins, here's something you can do to make the fediverse massively better for anyone who's a woman and/or Black: ban "reply guys", mansplainers, and sea lions (https://wondermark.com/c/1062/) on your server. You know what I mean. Make a rule against it. Encourage other people to report it. Go into the comments of a popular post and proactively block or ban the people engaging in this behaviour. If a particular server is known to be bad for this because the admins tolerate this behaviour from their users, preemptively mute or block it server-wide. Consider public shaming.
Just because it's not outright harassment or slurs doesn't make it okay. It still actively drives people away.
If this is an undue burden for you or your moderators, your server is too big. Stop accepting new users and add more moderators.
